The fire at Franklin National Historic Site on Monday destroyed much of a large industrial building, burned down a nearby parking lot and prompted authorities to temporarily shut down access to surrounding streets.
The fire started on a structure in the parking lot of a nearby office complex, and officials said it was likely the cause of the blaze, according to a tweet from the Franklin Fire Department.
The National Park Service says about 40 acres of the Franklin site were destroyed, while the Franklin fire department said its firefighters were battling the blaze.
The Franklin fire has been under control, and the National Park service is planning to reopen Franklin in a few days, the park service tweeted.
